Itinerary summary:

Day 1: Cusco – Mollepata – Soraypampa – Humantay Lake

The adventure begins in the city of Cusco and then crosses the Southern Valley. This day, the hike to the Soraypamapa campsite, as well as to the impressive Humantay Lagoon (4,200 meters above sea level), takes place.

Day 2: Soraypampa – Abra Salkantay – Huayracmachay – Collpapampa

The second day is the most challenging of the route, ascending to Abra Salkantay (4,630 meters above sea level). Subsequently, you descend toward the tropical valleys of Collpapampa, where you will spend the night.

Day 3: Collpapampa – Playa Sahuayaco – Lucmabamba

During the third day, the Andean landscapes completely change to tropical high jungle areas.

This day offers an immersive experience alongside coffee plantations and fruit orchards, and also includes a visit to the hot springs of Cocalmayo.

Day 4: Lucmabamba – Llactapata – Hydroelectric – Aguas Calientes

Each day, the landscapes will bring us closer to Machu Picchu. This day, by visiting the archeological site of Llactapata, you will get the first view of Machu Picchu, an unforgettable moment that marks the proximity to the great goal.

Day 5: Machu Picchu – Ollantaytambo - Cusco

On the final day, the tour of the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu is conducted, exploring each of its most important areas. Finally, in the afternoon, the return by train to Ollantaytambo is scheduled, and subsequently by tourist transport to the city of Cusco.

Nevado Salkantay – 20,574 feet / 6,271 meters above sea level: Sacred mountain of the Andes and one of the most iconic and scenic points of the route.

Soraypampa – 3,900 meters above sea level / 12,795 feet: It is the base camp, a central place for adventure, ecotourism, and to appreciate incredible views of mountains, snow-capped peaks, and the typical fauna of the area.

Salkantay Pass - 4,630 meters above sea level / 15,190 feet: It is the highest point of the Salkantay Trek, a place where the best panoramic landscapes of the route can be appreciated.

It is also known as the Salkantay Pass.

Humantay Lagoon - 4,200 meters above sea level / 13,780 feet: Impressive turquoise lagoon located at the foot of the Humantay snow-capped mountain. It is one of the main natural destinations in Cusco due to its great beauty.

Cocalmayo Hot Springs: 1,600 meters above sea level / 5,249 feet: Relaxing hot springs amidst beautiful tropical landscapes that allow you to experience a unique moment of tranquility.

Collpapampa – 2,950 meters above sea level / 9,678 feet: It is a transition zone toward the edge of the jungle, characterized by being surrounded by great biodiversity.

Llactapata: 2,840 meters above sea level / 9,300 feet: Ancient Inca archeological center that offers one of the most exclusive and stunning views of Machu Picchu from a distance.

Lucmabamba: 2,100 meters above sea level / 6,890 feet: Charming valley surrounded by coffee plantations and lush vegetation, renowned for its high-quality coffee production and privileged natural surroundings.

Aguas Calientes – 2,040 meters above sea level / 6,692 feet: Base town of Machu Picchu, famous for its services and tourist attractions that complement the adventure through the Inca citadel.

Machu Picchu – 2,430 meters above sea level / 7,972 feet: The seventh wonder of the modern world and the main attraction of the tour.
