Day 1 | Cusco – Ninamarca – Paucartambo – Cloud Forest – Bamboo Lodge

The Manu tour experience begins in Cusco with pick-up from your hotel to traverse the landscapes of the Andes toward the gateway to the Amazon. The first stop of the adventure will be at the Chullpas of Ninamarca, an ancient pre-Inca archeological site surrounded by mountains and Andean valleys. Next, we will continue to Paucartambo, a picturesque town with colonial architecture known for its cultural traditions.

From Paucartambo, we will ascend to the Abra de Acjanaco (4,000 meters above sea level), before beginning the impressive descent into the cloud forest of Manu National Park. As we lose altitude, the landscape will change from the Andes to a humid and lush forest, where the diversity of flora and fauna becomes increasingly evident.

Upon reaching the San Pedro area, we will make a stop to explore the forest and visit an observation platform, with the possibility of spotting the cock-of-the-rock, Peru's national bird.

The tour will also allow us to appreciate orchids, bromeliads, ferns, and other species characteristic of this ecosystem.

At the end of the tour, we will arrive at Bambú Lodge, located in a tropical setting at approximately 700 meters above sea level. After settling in, we will have time to rest and enjoy dinner. At the end of the day, the guide will provide us with an overview of the activities for the following day.

Day 2 | Bambú Lodge – Hummingbird Garden – Atalaya – Alto Madre de Dios River – Soga de Oro Lodge The second day of the adventure will begin after breakfast at the hotel, continuing our journey toward the low jungle. On the way, we will visit a Hummingbird Garden, where we will learn about some endemic species of this place.

Next, we will arrive at Atalaya, the point where the road gives way to the river. We will also board a vessel to navigate the Alto Madre de Dios River, enjoying the Amazonian landscapes and the transition to the tropical jungle climate.

Our destination will be Soga de Oro Lodge, surrounded by nature and tranquility. In the afternoon, we will visit Cocha Machuwasi, where we will explore its tranquil waters aboard a traditional wooden rowboat. The tour offers excellent opportunities to observe birds, monkeys, insects, and other wildlife species.

Back at the lodge, we will have time to rest or engage in an additional exploration activity, depending on the day's conditions. At night, those who wish can participate in an optional night walk, an ideal experience to discover the sounds and nocturnal inhabitants of the forest.

Overnight stay at Soga de Oro Lodge.

Day 3 | Soga de Oro Lodge – Collpa de Loros – Atalaya – Cloud Forest – Cusco The last day begins early with a navigation to a collpa of parrots, a natural space frequented by parrots, parakeets, and other characteristic birds of the region. The observation will depend on the weather conditions and the natural behavior of the species.

Then we will return to the lodge to collect our luggage and begin our journey back. We will sail again to Atalaya, where we will board our private vehicle to begin the land journey to Cusco.

The return journey will take us through the cloud forest, offering a final opportunity to stop, explore the surroundings, and observe the biodiversity of this unique ecosystem, as long as conditions and time permit.

We will continue the journey through the Andean landscapes until we reach Cusco at approximately 6:00 PM, culminating an experience that connects in just a few days the majesty of the Andes with the nature of the Peruvian Amazon.

How long does the trip from Cusco to Manu take?

The journey from Cusco to the Manu area is mostly done by road for a large part of the first day, approximately 7 hours, with various stops along the way. The route is part of the experience and allows you to appreciate the gradual transition from the Andes to the cloud forest and finally to the tropical jungle.

The cloud forest is an ecosystem of great biodiversity. During the stops, we will be able to observe different species of birds, as well as orchids, bromeliads, ferns, and other plants native to this ecosystem.

Is it possible to observe the cock-of-the-rock?

Yes. During the tour in the San Pedro area, we will visit an observation platform where we will have the opportunity to look for the cock-of-the-rock, the national bird of Peru. Since it involves wildlife, its observation is not guaranteed and depends on natural conditions and the behavior of the birds.

What animals can I observe during the tour?

Depending on the day's conditions, it is possible to observe cock-of-the-rocks, hummingbirds, parrots, parakeets, monkeys, different species of birds, insects, and other jungle animals.

Wildlife observation is completely natural, so sightings cannot be guaranteed.

What is the visit to the parrot clay lick like?

The activity takes place very early on the third day. We will sail approximately 25 minutes by boat to a clay lick frequented by green parrots, parakeets, and other birds. The number of birds observed will depend on the weather conditions and their natural behavior.

Is the night walk included?

The night walk is optional and subject to weather and safety conditions. It is an opportunity to discover the sounds and activities of different species during the night.

Do I need trekking experience?

No. This program is not a long-distance trek. It combines land transportation, navigation, wildlife observation, and short exploratory walks, making it a good alternative for those who want to experience the Amazon without undertaking demanding hikes.

What type of footwear do I need?

We recommend wearing comfortable shoes with good grip for walks and exploration stops.

Rubber boots for activities in the humid jungle areas are included in the program.

Is it necessary to bring binoculars?

It is not mandatory, but they are highly recommended for observing birds, monkeys, and other animals from a distance. You can also request binocular rental as an additional service.
